Insult

NEW ALBUM:
"RESIDE INFERNUS"
Formed by the original ONSLAUGHT drummer, Steve Grice, and bassist Jase Stallard - who played on that British band's first two albums - INSULT take us back to the roots, to a time when metal was raw and often tinged with punk influences. But fear not: while their debut includes an occasional D-beat passage, it's nowhere near as punk-driven as ONSLAUGHT's chaotic demos. Instead, it leans more towards their first full-length, minus its proto-black metal edge. The Bristol crew deliver eight solid and diverse metal slabs, complete with atmospheric intros and outros. With simple yet effective riffing, driving rhythms and pounding drums, the album is catchy as hell. The charismatic vocalist belts out the lyrics in a gritty way, while the guitarists show off some serious chops. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the cult classic "Power from Hell" LP, they've recorded their version of the eponymous song, featuring guest vocals from Sy Keeler. These old geezers thrash harder than many of today's youngsters - bursting with energy, attitude and authenticity. The contagious enthusiasm of this early thrash style and an old-school analogue recording approach give the album a fresh yet nostalgic feel. Though they don't ape any one band, you might detect echoes of early ONSLAUGHT, early METALLICA and MELIAH RAGE, as well as MOTÖRHEAD, VENOM, WARFARE and TANK, and even DISCHARGE, G.B.H. or THE EXPLOITED on the punkier side. Get ready to have your head bashed in!

BIOGRAPHY:
INSULT is a thrash metal band with punk influences hailing from Bristol, England. The group was initially established in the mid-1980s by the original ONSLAUGHT drummer Steve Grice, alongside other members from this iconic thrash metal band. They began performing headline shows in their local area and beyond but didn't write and record their own songs at that time. After a long period of inactivity, they got back together in 2022. Joining Steve in this revival are former ONSLAUGHT bassist Jase Stallard and their former roadie Jase Howell, who now takes on vocal duties - both of whom were part of the original INSULT line-up. This seasoned core has been complemented by talented guitarists Robbie Harris and Jonny Fifield, completing the ensemble.
Since their return, INSULT have been carefully crafting their debut album "Reside Infernus", which is a testament to the band's deft creativity, patience and relentless drive. The hard-hitting quintet are meticulous about their art and its creation. In an era where music is increasingly shaped by the digital world, they chose a different path: the album was produced without relying on the automated tools that many artists use today. Every riff, lyric and beat was crafted organically, driven by emotion, experience and a deep connection to the art of making music. The result is something that speaks with authenticity - an album that breathes and roars rather than merely exists as a by-product of technology.
The band's expanding fan base is fuelled by their electrifying and formidable live performances, which consistently lead to repeat bookings thanks to the high energy they bring to each show. In 2024, they performed at Wings of Angels festival in Swindon, UK - an event held in memory of Steve Grimmett - sharing the stage with GRIM REAPER Tribute, Chris Holmes' MEAN MAN, DESOLATION ANGELS and FURY. The year 2025 looks promising, with several shows already booked, including appearances at Depravation festival in Swindon, UK, and Keep It True Rising festival in Würzburg, Germany.
In 2024, INSULT reached out to Metal on Metal Records and sent over some rehearsal and demo tracks, which sounded very promising to the label owners. Upon hearing the finished album, there was no doubt left, and the contract was signed for the release of "Reside Infernus" on April 25th. The album features eight tracks characterised by powerful riffs, thunderous drumming and intense vocals - crafted to satisfy fans of aggressive yet melodic metal music. Among them is a re-recording of "Power from Hell", the title track of the ONSLAUGHT's cult debut album released 40 years ago, featuring guest vocals by Sy Keeler, the former long-time ONSLAUGHT frontman.
